In September 2014 and March this year, NATA presented a webinar for its CMT technical assessors which offered additional training in how we conduct assessments to focus on the technical supervisory tasks in addition to the usual assessment of the performance of tests.
It is important that assessors are kept up-to-date with the changes in our industry and NATA requirements. Therefore, it is proposed to develop other webinars. However, NATA does need you help to discover what you need to help you perform the technical assessment better.
In the last couple of years, Standards Australia committees have revised a considerable number of test methods used by CMT laboratories. Some of the revisions are minor but in a couple of cases there have been considerable changes to the methods.
Committee BR-042 - Concrete has reissued AS 1012 1, 2, 3.1, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5, 6, 8.1, 8.2 and 9. It has also issued new methods AS 1012 3.5, 8.3 and 24. All other methods have been reconfirmed in 2014 except AS 1012 13, 14 and 20 which are in the course of revision at the moment.
Committee CE-006 - Asphalts has re-issued AS 2891 2.2, 2.2, 7.3, 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 and 14.5 in 2014.
Committee CE-009 - Soils has made considerable changes to AS 1289 6.1.1 and has re-issued AS 1289 0, 3.8.3.
Committee CE-012 - Aggregates has re-issued AS 1141 7, 8, 17, 27, 28 and 29 and has issued two new methods AS 1141 60.1, 60.2.
Please review each of the re-issued and new methods before you perform your next assessment in order to be able to discuss the changes with the laboratories.
