Expression of Interest to join ASA/NATA Sleep Disorders Service Accreditation Advisory Committee

The Sleep Disorders Services Accreditation Advisory Committee (SDSAAC) provides technical advice together with administrative support for the ASA/NATA accreditation program.

SDSAAC is chaired by an ASA Member and includes representatives from the following:

  • Physician representatives
  • Paediatric Physician representative
  • Sleep Technologist representatives 

NATA provides the secretariat for the Committee and is responsible for the delivery and operational aspects of the accreditation program. 

The SDSAAC has a current vacancy and is seeking expressions of interest from a sleep physician with expertise in laboratory and home based polysomnography services.

The term of appointment for new SDSAAC members is five years with face-to-face meetings being held annually and email and/or teleconferences occurring throughout the year as necessary.  NATA meets the costs for travel and accommodation to attend face-to-face meetings.  It is expected that Committee members make themselves available to attend all meetings.

Committee members are appointed for their knowledge and technical expertise.  The duties of a Committee member include, but are not limited to:

  • providing advice on the review of ASA/NATA’s accreditation criteria applicable to SDS;
  • review of assessment reports for applicant and accredited facilities, where required;
  • provision of advice, as requested, on technical issues arising from assessment activities;
  • review and approval of the appointment of technical assessors.

Applicants must:

  • have substantial practical experience in the private health sector;
  • be familiar with NATA’s accreditation criteria and processes (preferably through either practical experience in an accredited facility or experience as a NATA technical assessor);
  • be committed to NATA and the accreditation process;
  • abide by NATA’s policies, including the need to maintain confidentiality, be objective, act impartially and to declare any conflicts of interest;
  • prepare for and attend AAC meetings.

The closing date for expressions of interest is 2 February 2019.  Successful candidates will be formally invited to participate in the activities of the SDSAAC following approval by ASA and NATA’s Boards.
