NATA Members' Representatives

NATA is an association of members, where each accredited facility is a member of NATA. Under the previous constitution, members were represented on NATA’s council by members’ representatives to council, elected by members on a regional basis. After the adoption of the current constitution at the 2014 Annual General Meeting, council was discontinued. The Board considers the role of the members’ representatives important and has continued to hold meetings of members’ representatives.

Each state and territory (the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales have been combined as a single region) is represented by two members’ representatives (where the number of members in the region is 50 or greater). Under current arrangements, members’ representatives are appointed for a four year term. The members’ representatives meet periodically with members of NATA’s Board and executive management.

Members’ representatives act as a two way conduit between NATA and its members. As such members’ representatives may seek feedback from members, facilitate engagement with members, inform NATA’s management of issues of which they are aware or act as an alternative interface between members and NATA.

Feedback received via members’ representatives informs NATA’s continuous improvement program, strategic planning and policy development and as such, is valued by NATA. Feedback provided by members is usually tabled by members’ representatives during their meetings with NATA’s Board and management where it is openly discussed. Where appropriate NATA’s management may provide a formal response or request clarification or further information regarding the feedback. This may also include a request to disclose the identity of the member providing the feedback. The members’ representative then makes such a request of the member on NATA’s behalf. Occasionally feedback may indicate that further investigation by NATA is necessary. This may include managing the feedback in accordance with NATA’s procedures for corrective action and/or complaints.
