Mr. Paul Armishaw

Mr. Paul Armishaw is the Team Leader Proficiency Testing at National Measurement Institute (NMI) and has over 14 years experience in proficiency testing. In his current role he oversees the management of team of scientists providing proficiency testing in the areas of organic residues, trace elements and forensic drugs. These proficiency testing programs employ a metrological approach and emphasise traceable assigned values. He is responsible for the maintenance of NMI's accreditation to ILAC Guide 13 for the provision of proficiency testing and is an approved proficiency testing coordinator under the terms of accreditation.

He is also a member of the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) Proficiency Testing Advisory Committee and has a number of publications on topics including measurement uncertainty and reference materials development.

Mrs Penny Petinos

Penny is the Quality Manager for the RCPA Quality Assurance Programs Pty Limited (since 2002), where she has played a significant role in the implementation of a quality system within the RCPA QA Programs and has seen 9 programs accredited to ILAC G13:2000 Guidelines for the Requirements for the Competence of Providers of Proficiency Testing Schemes and 3 offices certified to ISO 9000 Quality management systems - Requirements. 

Penny is also the Coordinator of the new project currently being piloted by RCPA QAP in 2006, Key Incident Monitoring & Management Systems (KIMMS), a patient safety project initiated by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA).

Prior to this Penny had been with the RCPA Haematology QAP since 1989, as a scientist in the early stages involved with sample preparation and distribution, data entry, data analysis & report preparation.

Penny was also Technical Manager & 2IC (1999-2001) responsible for all technical aspects of the program. She was also Coordinator of the two RCPA/AIMS Morphology workshops held each year, with 35 registrants & 12 speakers (1997-2001).

From 1980-1988 Penny worked as a hospital scientist at ICPMR, Westmead Hospital, Haematology/Transfusion laboratory where she gained experience in Haematology, Haemostasis, Special Haemostasis, Haemoglobin Electrophoresis, Morphology & Transfusion Serology. 

Penny is a member of the Australian Organisation for Quality (AOQ NSW), National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), NATA Proficiency Testing Scheme Providers Accreditation Advisory Committee (PTSPAAC) and ILAC PT Consultative Group.
