MEDICAL TESTING ACCREDITATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
21st MEETING – 5 MAY 2011

The 21st MTAAC meeting was held on 5 May 2011 at the Qantas Meeting Rooms at Sydney airport.

The tenure of all committee members was confirmed, including the first meeting attendance of Fertility Society of Australia representative, A/Prof Keith Harrison. It was noted that the term of the RCPA Deputy Liaison Officer, A/Prof Teck Yee Khong, will expire at the end of 2011 due to position changes at the RCPA.

Reports were provided from each of the committee members. These reports, including updates from the relevant professional societies, were discussed in detail with input from each of the committee members.

A SWOT analysis was conducted that identified the major threats facing the pathology industry today. These are the cuts to funding and the huge increase in the number of collection centres due to deregulation in the industry. The Pathologist workload survey was also discussed.

Reports from each of the NATA representatives were presented, including the NATA Technical Manager and senior staff within the Medical Testing field.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday 3 May 2012
