Updated scope of accreditation for immunology

Laboratories performing immunology testing are advised of changes to the available scope of accreditation.


The following amendments have been made:

 

10.40 Immunology
 .26Tests of cellular immunity - lymphokine assays
 .30Assessment of neutrophils and monocytes - quantitation
 .32Assessment of neutrophils and monocytes - in vitro functional tests
 .40 Tissue typing
 .41HLA B27


Are now expressed as:

10.40 Immunology
 .26Tests of cellular immunity - cytokine assays
 .30Assessment of neutrophils - quantitation
 .32Assessment of neutrophils - in vitro functional tests
 .40Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) typing
 .41HLA Single Antigen Tests
Descriptor required: HLA - B27, HLA B51


Laboratories accredited to these subclasses are advised that the editorial changes have already been applied to their scope of accreditation. Laboratories may obtain a copy of their current scope of accreditation at the NATA website (www.nata.com.au).

The following subclasses have been deleted:

10.40 Immunology
 .52Allergen - specific IgG
 .55Detection of immune complexes in body fluids and biopsy material

Laboratories whose current scope of accreditation includes these subclasses will be formally advised of these deletions in their next report on reassessment.
